Our Senior Controls Engineer is a self-sufficient, individual contributor, performing as part of a team in developing life-cycle and substantial engineering solutions for electrical ride, show, and conveyor systems. This fast-paced position plays an important role in maintaining highly reliable park operations at two water parks. The positional also provides engineering support for four textile processing plants, ensuring that these plants perform at peak operating efficiency.
You will report to the Textiles and Water Parks Sustaining Engineering Manager.
What You Will Do
- Develop/implement immediate solutions based on collected data and perform engineering analysis.
- Verify design/installation compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Lead all aspects of fabrication and installation efforts and perform acceptance testing.
- Develop engineering design documentation including engineered drawings, calculations, system requirements, hazards analysis, performance specifications, test plans, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, occasional 2nd or 3rd shifts, and immediate on-call response coverage.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience with open and closed loop feedback control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC's), relay logic, electric motors (AC and DC) and motor controllers (variable frequency, DC, stepper and servo drives), power conditioning and distributed control networks (e.g. ControlNet)
- Experience with problem solving, solution development, and implementation in the industrial controls, automation, and/or transportation industries with at least six (6) years of that having direct experience in electrical/controls engineering
- Knowledge of PC and Network systems including hardware, switches/routers, wireless, cabling/fiber communication, I.P. configuration, network security and general repairing.
- Familiarity with industrial controls systems with a focus on Allen Bradley ControlLogix and Beckhoff TwinCAT.
- Software programming experience including ladder logic (A-B or Siemens) and C environments.
- Experience working in multi-engineering subject areas including design, installation, testing, and sustaining/plant engineering on safety critical systems.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code, NFPA 79, and UL 508A.
- Proficiency in documenting engineering design information in AutoCAD or a similar drafting and design application.
Preferred Qualifications
- EIT or active Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of Florida
- Experience in ride and show control systems including safety-critical applications for the entertainment industry.
- Knowledge of audio and video systems including amps/mixers, microphones, digital audio, cameras, projectors video servers, and displays.
- Experience working with relational database management systems
- Experience developing and implementing databases that facilitate efficient storage, searching, and processing of plant and user data using MySQL.
- Experience crafting real-time machine and user performance displays using industrial production data from Grafana or a similar open-source observability platform.
- Ten (10) years of direct experience in electrical/controls engineering within the industrial controls, automation, or transportation industries.
