Our team oversees critical components like Playback, CDN, and Quality of Experience, ensuring seamless content delivery across millions of devices while effectively addressing last-mile connectivity. REPORTING TO: Senior Engineering Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build the next-generation user experience and the platforms required to enable intuitive content discovery for our customers
• You will lead a team of 8+ engineers across Playback and CDN pods, enabling customers in multiple countries to watch content across the thousands of titles available in various genres and languages in the most seamless manner
• Work closely with Product, and Cross-functional teams to set the vision, and roadmap and develop new capabilities in core streaming platforms across Mobile, Web, and Living Room devices. These capabilities have to be highly performant, flexible, and relevant to potentially serve 300+ million users
• You will work with Principal Engineers and Architects to define the technical roadmap for the team to build cost-effective video streaming solutions that bring the best watch-video experience to our customers  
• You will build an effective team that delivers high-quality products to our customers 
• Create effective mechanisms to set goals for the team, create execution plans, and track progress against those. You'll collaborate with other Developers, Program Managers, and tech support teams, in an agile environment to estimate and deliver objectives set together as a team
• Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, enhancing, and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team
• Contribute substantially to innovation and overcome technology limitations to deliver customer experience

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

• Strong Golang and GoRoutines skills are preferred, with Java or Python experience a plus
• At least 3 years managing software development teams including hands-on architectural or distributed systems experience
• Exposure to building RESTful APIs with monitoring(Grafana, Prometheus), fault tolerance, and metrics
• Experience with high-scale databases - MySQL, NoSQL (Cassandra, Redis, DynamoDB)
• Experience using any major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) for production applications
• Experience with CI/CD processes
• A strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects and bringing in and growing engineering talent
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences
