Job responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)
- Send timely and accurate invoices to the payer for products and services rendered.
- Correctly determine the quantities and prices of invoiced products and services. Verify that the services and products are properly authorized and that the required documentation is on file.
- Make sure all Medicare documentation is received from the health care provider and sent to Danville. Review reports to maximize generic replacement opportunities.
- Manage and collect patient balances prior to dispensing of prescriptions or in accordance with company policy. Please ensure that all required billing documentation is complete and accurate before submitting a claim (for example, billing of medical claims).
- Process checks/refund payments in accordance with policy. Review price change logs and ensure there are corresponding SDL (send direct link) complaints.
- Promptly review, investigate, and resolve all third-party chargebacks. Assist with any third party audits, in accordance with company policy.
- Process and submit all SDL requests (send direct link) in accordance with company policy. Processing prescription drug exceptions, including pre-authorizations, screening referrals to other Walgreens locations, and proactively identifying co-pay assistance opportunities.
- Responsible for proactive communication to patients and providers regarding referral/prescription status. Responsible for maintaining in-depth knowledge and patient care with enrollment in assistance programs such as the Chronic Disease Fund, confirming patient eligibility and all necessary referrals and documentation.
- Handles phone calls that don't require personal attention from the pharmacist, including those to doctors and third-party payers. Maintains subject matter expertise related to all third party billing practices, including, but not limited to, third party adjudication, pre-authorization, and patient financial assistance programs to train pharmaceutical technicians and other support personnel.
basic qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Pharmaceutical technician license, in the states where required.
- Maintains PTCB or ExCPT certification through designated PTCB or ExCPT training program and/or state-required certification/registration. Experience communicating both verbally (telephone, one-on-one, in groups) and written (emails, letters, reports, presentations) to various audiences (workgroup, team, company management, potential acquisitions, external clients).
- Experience in providing customer service to internal and external clients, including meeting quality service standards and evaluating customer satisfaction. preferred qualifications
- Prefers six months of experience in a retail environment.
- I prefer to have previous work experience with Walgreens. Experience in medical claims filing processes, including but not limited to Medicare filing, knowledge of EOB (explanation of benefits), remittance counseling, and meeting timely filing limits.
